Yoni Reclaiming. A Radical Self Love Practice

Updated: Jan 15, 2020

Womb wellness is more than Yoni Steam Baths and Womb Massage.

It’s reclaiming our bodies and traditional wisdom. It’s connecting with our sacred womb space.

It is loving ourselves.

Here is a practice I started back in my late teens when I struggled with self image. I did it again after my pregnancy loss, a time when I was so very angry with my body, especially my womb. I do it now that I'm pregnant with so much gratitude for my body but also with all the new changes I am witnessing including weight gain, melasma, stretch marks and.............skin tags (WTH)?!? I will do it again with my new postpartum mom bod.

What does this practice do?

It reprograms negative thought patterns. It connects you to your body. It helps heal susto. It promotes self love.

How does it work?

Positive self talk accompanied by positive self touch has a big impact on self image and with practice, reprograms a lifetime of negative thinking.

Your body is a complex system of 37.2 trillion cells all working 24/7 for the last (X amount) of years to keep you alive and well! Fighting for you when you are sick, nourishing you, healing you. Thank them.

Your cells are listening.

Our bodies are made up of mostly water.

Scientist Masaru Emoto shows how the influence of our thoughts, words and feelings on molecules of water can positively impact the earth and our personal health.

What you need:

  • a private warm room

  • a full body mirror

  • a picture of yourself as a child about 5 years oldish

  • massage oil like coconut, sesame etc

Perspective:

Undress and sit in front of the full body mirror naked. Close your eyes and meditate. Take a few deep breaths. Now open your eyes and look at your bare body. Look at yourself up and down.

Observe & Question:

What thoughts come up when you look at yourself naked? Do you find yourself criticizing? Do you zone in on body parts you don't like? Are you at ease in your natural state? Question the root is of these thoughts. When did you first begin to feel that way?

What would you tell a child if they had these negative thoughts towards themselves? Now talk to the little girl within yourself, it helps to look at the picture of yourself as a child to remember your true self.

Temple worship/ Reprogramming:

Now we observe one body part at a time. Starting with your feet up to your face.

Look at your feet. Examine every detail. Stare at them as if it's your first time seeing them. Think of all the places they have taken you. Imagine for a second what your life would be like without them.

Caress them with your hands, massage them with oil. Love them. Thank them out loud. It feels silly at first, I know.

Maybe you want someone to love you, a lover to worship every inch of you, but how if you don't love yourself?

Continue to your legs. Massage them, love them, thank them. Your cells are listening.

Now at your Yoni, staring at yourself, realize this sacred power between your legs. A throne of creation which we have ALL come out of. A sacred portal where life is created, where love is made, where ultimate pleasure is felt. Many of us have complicated feelings about this part of ourselves. Please note- even if you have not had children, you hold an great power to create, not talking about a baby. You have the power to create the life you want, create beautiful things.

Lay down, cup your hands over the mound of your Yoni, close your eyes and repeat any that call to you:

Affirmations:

I am safe now.

I am sacred.

I am enough.

I am beautiful.

I am powerful.

I am fertile.

I am a sexual and free being.

Thank you.

I love and accept myself.

Now rub oil on your abdomen and massage in a clock wise circle motion. (Down your left side, up your right side)

Thank your organs, your belly button (our first connection to life), your womb space near your lower abdomen. Emotions may come up and that is good. Just release them.

Now move on to your breasts tell them they are perfect, kiss your arms, kiss your hands! What would life be like without them? Thank each part of your body. Tell each body part you love, accept and appreciate them! Massage and caress your body.

Take your time on each body part! Get lost in gratitude!

Finish by getting close to the mirror, staring deep into your eyes. Stare for a loooong time. Focus the pupil, the beautiful mandala around the pupil, can you stare beyond them? Zoom out, zoom in. Breath, look, see.

Do you see your true self? Your essence? You are stunning! Say it out loud!

I am stunning! I am beautiful! I am sacred! There is only one of you in this world. That is your power.
