Labor prep and induction with yoni steaming

Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming, is an ancient practice that has gained popularity in recent years as a method for preparing the body for labor and delivery. This holistic approach involves sitting over a gentle, and very mild steaming pot of water infused with gentle edible herbs to help increase circulation, moisturize and soften the cervix, thus preparing the body for labor. The practice of yoni steaming can help balance hormones, increase circulation to the pelvic area, and encourage the onset of labor.

Typically, vaginal steaming during pregnancy is contraindicated and not advised because it can encourage the cervix to open- not something we want unless we are past 39 weeks pregnant!

By incorporating yoni steaming into their labor preparation routine, expectant mothers aim to support their bodies in the natural process of childbirth. During the steaming process, the steam from the herbal infusion penetrates the vaginal tissues, helping to relax the muscles and soften the cervix. This can potentially aid in reducing discomfort during labor and promoting a smoother delivery. It is important to note that yoni steaming should be done with caution and under the guidance of a trained practitioner, especially during pregnancy. As with any holistic practice, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider before incorporating yoni steaming into your labor preparation routine.

The steam is warm but mild enough that if a newborn were introduced to it, it would be gentle and relaxing on their skin.

How does Yoni steaming help with encouraging and preparing the body for labor?

-the steam relaxes and softens the cervix

-the herbal steam relaxes the entire pelvic floor

-it increases circulation in the pelvic bowl

-the steam brings moisture to the area

-the herbs used relieve dryness and increase lubrication as well

-the aromatherapy from the herbs helps stimulate labor

-our herbal blend is rich in vitamins that help with skin elasticity

Recommendation: right after the steam bath, apply our Yoni Balm on the perineum and upper thighs to enhance skin elasticity.

Practiced for years by ancient cultures, yoni steaming promotes feminine wellness by naturally cleansing the uterus and vagina. The combination of heat and herbs stimulates circulation and increases blood flow to the pelvic area, both of which may help to induce labor. Certain herbs used in yoni steaming, such as rosemary and basil, can stimulate the uterus and help bring on labor.

The warmth and moisture from the steam may relax the pelvic muscles and promote blood circulation in the reproductive organs, which may encourage contractions to start.

We have been practicing vaginal steaming in San Diego for the past 13 years. The herbal blends we use are gentle and edible! They include chamomile, basil, sage, rose, and lavender to name a few. We will customize your mix depending on your week of pregnancy and your needs. Please call us if you have any questions! We look forward to serving you.
